These Charming Men!

Everything I’m about to tell you, really did happen. I promise.

18:20pm 24th June 2023, Glastonbury.

Tom Ogden, Joshua Dewhurst, Charlie Salt, Joe Donovan, Myles Kellock otherwise known as Blossoms. The Stockport indie band, and Rick Astley 80s pop superstar took to the ‘Woodsies’ stage at Glastonbury and played 16 songs together.

16 songs that were written by neither Blossoms or Astley. Written by legendary Manchester band. ‘The Smiths.’ It seemed like a mad, crazy idea but they pulled it off. Rick Astley is as much of a Smiths fan as the thousands in the audience watching him, and he understands what those songs mean. He gave his all singing them. All 16. Blossoms are from Stockport, just down the road from The Smiths hometown of Manchester, so of course they know the songs. They know them inside out and back to front. It was quite something to watch.

They gave fans a true Glastonbury performance to remember. One of the highlights of the weekend!

They played.

‘This Charming Man’

‘What Difference Does it Make?’

‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’

‘Cemetery Gates’

‘Ask’

‘Hand in Glove’

‘Some Girls are Bigger than Others’

‘The Boy with the Thorn in His Side’

‘Girlfriend in a Coma’

‘Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now’

‘Panic’

‘William it was Really Nothing’

‘Barbarism Begins at Home’

‘Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want’

‘How Soon is Now’

‘There is a Light that Never Goes Out.’

They did one of Britains best bands justice, and gave thousands of ‘Indie Kids’ young and old, a Saturday evening party. At a time where a Smiths reunion is looking about as likely as… well you get my point. Rick and those boys from Stockport are our next best thing!
