Record Store Day 2025

The 18th edition of Record Store Day will take place on the 12th April 2025. Over 270 independent record shops across the UK, alongside thousands of others around the globe will take part in the celebration.

Record Store Day celebrates all things vinyl, classic albums, new releases, independent record shops and the whole culture around buying, selling and listening to records.

2025 also sees a new ambassador for the day. This year it's Sam Fender. It's a role that has previously been held by Kate Bush, Taylor Swift, the 1975, Noel Gallagher and Elton John.

To mark the occasion, Sam will also a release a limited-edition 6 track EP, “Me and the Dog” on 12” vinyl, available over the counter only on Saturday 12th April, from participating shops. The EP features two-brand new tracks, alongside fan favourites and songs never pressed onto vinyl before.

This release will be exclusive to the stores taking part in Record Store Day, and fans will be unable to purchase the EP anywhere else. When asked about his role as ambassador he said this.

“It’s a complete honour to be asked to be the Ambassador for Record Store Day 2025. The importance of indie stores cannot be understated. Without them, we lose physical spaces for music fans to discover both their favourite new artists and to forge friendships with likeminded people.

This year is an exciting one for me and the band with the release of our new album, People Watching. We were so privileged to be able to work with the family of legendary North East photographer Tish Murtha and use her photography across the album’s artwork for all formats.

The EP we’re releasing for Record Store Day is called “Me And The Dog EP”, which at one point was going to be the name of the new album, so it just feels right that it should have its own moment. We’ve included two songs that haven’t been released -  I’m Always On Stage and Empty Spaces.

Thanks so much to all the independent stores around the world who support us. Let’s all make sure we support them too.”

Sam is not the only one releasing new records to celebrate the day though. There's new releases from a whole host of artists, and bands.

Liam Gallagher is releasing his 2020 'Acoustic Sessions' on vinyl for the first time.

He is also re-releasing an album alongside brother Noel. Oasis are re-releasing their 2010 album 'Time Flies'. ‘Time Flies’ is the complete singles collection celebrating the work of Oasis from start to finish. Released on Big Brother Recordings, the track listing spans fifteen years across a staggering seven consecutive number one albums. 1994’s ‘Definitely Maybe’, 1995’s ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’, 1997’s ‘Be Here Now’, 2000’s ‘Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants’, 2002’s ‘Heathen Chemistry’, 2005’s ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ and their last from 2008, ‘Dig Out Your Soul’.
Starting with their irresistible debut, ‘Supersonic’ and finishing with their last release, ‘Falling Down’, the album features all 26 singles.

Will you be attempting to get anything. I have got my eyes on one or two.

Record Store Day is a brilliant day for music lovers, record collectors and those who own or work in record shops. A celebration of a love of music, and the joy of vinyl. It also celebrates independent businesses, at a time when they need our help more than ever.
