Do You Want To

Following the release of their sixth record, 'The Human Fear' Franz Ferdinand took to the stage in Manchester, playing at the city's newest music venue Aviva Studios. The band were playing a show as part of Amazon Music’s City Sessions series, which was streamed live on Prime Video and Amazon Music’s Twitch channel.

Playing a collection of songs from their illustrious career including a number of songs from the latest album. Including 'Hooked' and 'The Doctor'.

On new track 'Build it Up' the band were joined by a special guest, Smiths legend Johnny Marr. This was swiftly followed by ‘Do You Want To’ from their second album ‘You Could Have It So Much Better’.
The collaboration was rounded off by a version of the Smiths classic ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’, first released on their seminal 1986 album ‘The Queen Is Dead’.

After Marr departs, there’s still time for the group’s biggest hit; ‘Take Me Out’, with its blistering intro and chantable chorus, it remains not only Franz Ferdinand’s signature track but one of the most important indie rock songs of all time, one that recently passed one billion streams on Spotify.

20 years in and now on their third line up iteration. Only two members of the original line up are left, but the band are still as strong as ever. They still have a place in todays indie landscape, their new album has all of the classic Franz DNA. However, the band are not simply trending old ground, it sounds like an album from 2025. Not 2004. Franz Ferdinand know what they are, there's a reason that they have stuck around for this long. As they said themselves in 2005 "You do it oh so well."
