The Great Wait Is Over

So the news came. The news that many thought would never come.

After a hectic weekend, teasers from the tabloids. Cryptic tweets, and tour speculation. Things came to a head on Sunday with a teaser video. First played in Manchester and then in Reading. Before that same teaser was shared on social media, by the brothers Gallagher.

That teaser simply said. 27.08.2024, 8am.

8am arrived and fans were braced to hear the news. News that for years seemed impossible. After 15 years away, Oasis were back.

30 years since the release of their debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ and 15 years since that famous night in Paris.

A tour for 2025 was announced. Following the release of a picture. With Noel and Liam stood together.

Venues had been speculated over the weekend and on the whole people had got it right. Wembley and Heaton Park are on the list. As well as dates in Dublin at Croke Park, and Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. Scotland you haven’t been left out, the band are heading to Edinburgh too.

Tickets are out on Saturday 31st August 2024. Will you be trying?

For those of us who didn’t see them first time round, I feel as if this will be a mile stone gig. Being on social media over the last couple of days. Hearing people discuss just what Oasis mean to them. Being in the field in Manchester on Sunday night as the teaser was played. The roar afterwards was unbelievable. Oasis have been a huge part of my life, I’ve seen both of the brothers separately but Oasis is always the thing that we never got to see. Well on Saturday I’m hopefully going to have a ticket that lets me do just that.

Britain never had a band like Oasis before and they’ve not had one since. The impact that band had and continue to have is staggering. They have crossed generations, broken down barriers. I was nine when they broke up, and yet they still mean so much to me and to millions of others.

The way the band talk about their impact in the video below, is quite a moment. Neither of them can sum it up. It’s a chemistry between band and audience unlike any other.

For those of you trying to get tickets, good luck!

After starting this blog 5 years ago, this is one post I didn’t think I’d be writing. But as someone once said ‘There We Were but Here We Are.’
