In a recent interview with the Mirror, Noel Gallagher has claimed he would pay to be in a super group with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
Noel has always shared his love for The Beatles.
Saying this at 2021’s premier of ‘Get Back.’
“The Beatles mean everything to me. They’ve definitely got the best tunes, hands down. In my record collection, they’ve got the best tunes by far. They influenced everybody, their influence is absolute. I don’t know a single person who plays the guitar or who writes songs that doesn’t cite The Beatles as m influence.’
He also added in his Mirror interview, “I could be in a band with Paul Weller and Johnny Marr easily.” That certainly would be some group.
Noel has worked with Paul Weller before both with Oasis and on his solo work with the High Flying Birds. Paul too has called in a few favours from Noel throughout the years.
Johnny Marr has been a constant in Noels life from the early days of Oasis, and has too worked with him on songs. Noel’s most recent record ‘Council Skies’ features Johnny on three songs.
It’s probably never going to happen but imagine a group with all of these artists in. For both us as fans, and for Noel himself, those other four musicians are his musical heroes. He mentions The Beatles, The Jam and The Smiths as influences throughout his whole career. They are cornerstones of what he does. Those songs by those bands mean everything to him.
Now onto the logistics!
Who would sing? Who’d play the guitar? You’re spoilt for choice. The only nailed on position is drums!
Five of the greatest musicians sharing a stage. I can’t see it myself, but if it does happen. I’ll see you down the front!
