‘Somewhere’ Near You

On October 23rd 2023 Johnny Marr announced the ‘Sprit Power’ tour. Which would see him hit the road in spring 2024, to celebrate 10 years as a solo artist.

Complete with Gaz Coombes, the Supergrass frontman as support. Fans are in for a real treat. As well as playing songs from his solo career fans can expect songs from his former bands The Smiths and Electronic. 

Earlier in the year, Marr announced ‘Sprit & Power’ a compilation album which has complied the best songs from his 10 year solo career alongside new songs ‘Somewhere’ and the yet to be released track ‘The Answer’ 

Marr’s solo career has been very good, and having his best work in one place should bring new listeners and for the record collectors like myself it’s ideal! 

Away from music Johnny has written and released his second book, ‘Marr’s Guitars’ he released an autobiography in 2016 ‘Set The Boy Free’ which is an extraordinary read, ‘Marr’s Guitars’ sees the guitarist take a different aprowch and talk more about the instruments that have gotten him to where he is in life, where he was as a person and what those guitars did for him at the time. Having had such a prolific career I’m sure it’s going to be quite the read!

It’s been quite a busy year for Mr Marr. After 40 plus years in the music industry he shows no signs of slowing down. Why should he!

When you’re as good as him at what you do. Why would you stop.
