One More Time

Blink 182 returned with a first album in seven years. ‘One More Time’ also marked the return of lead singer Tom DeLonge, who had taken a break from Blink to front his other band Angels and Airwaves.

This album sees a more mature version of Blink, a band who have been famed for imaturity. Let’s not forget they went on a tour in 1998 called. ‘PooPoo PeePee.’ Silliness and funny lyrics became what Blink were famed for, and it’s still here on this record. ‘Dance With Me’ for example still has the classic crudeness we’ve come to expect from the band.

Yet this record is more sincere than it is stupid. The albums title track ‘One More Time’ talks about the bands personal battles, Travis Barkers plane crash and Mark Hoppus battle with cancer. The later is written about beautifully on ‘You Don’t Know What You’ve Got’ a true album highlight.

This is a classic Blink album, they didn’t want to reinvent the wheel, they just wanted to get the band back together. It’s a safe record but I suppose after so long away it’s what fans wanted.

You can’t be something that you’re not. Tom, Travis and Mark have given fans what they want this album. It’s a Blink 182 album made in 2023. Blink for grown ups!

It has a bit of a swan song feel to it. Could this be the last record we hear from Blink 182. The title especially gives us an inkling that this could be the last one. If it is, they’ve given us a good record. By no means is it perfect, but the boys are back together making music, and that in itself is a good thing!

As well as a new record the band have taken to the road, playing a huge world tour, so fans new and old can see the band play these tunes and all of the hits.
