Neville, Numan, Linekar. Blossoms?

What do all of these have in common, well there all named Gary.

Blossoms have announced there fifth album today with a little help from some very famous Gary’s. Including Gary Neville, Gary Linekar and Gary Numan.

The album is titled ‘Gary’ not after these music and football legends. Instead named after a Gorilla.

The album is out on the 20th of September. But the band released the albums title track today (3rd June 2024).

Tom the bands frontman told the press. “The song is based on a true story, I heard on the radio last year. Gary the 8-foot fiberglass gorilla stolen from Reynard Garden Centre in Carluke Scotland.”

Blossoms recruit friend and collaborator Rick Astley to play the Garden Centre owner in the music video for Gary. The band saw the song as the centre piece of the album, and in turn went back to its title to name the record.

The video follows on from the bands last music video, for previous single ‘What Can I say After I’m Sorry’ and features a collaboration from Sean Dyche.

With the band playing the thieves… stealing Gary the Gorilla.

The band always have fun with videos and this one is no different. Sean Dyche is quite the actor! And this is quite the story

Talking about the album. It has produced by long time producer James Skelly, with the aid of Jungle’s Josh Lloyd Watson and CMAT (Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson)

CMAT also has a co-writing credit on two of the tracks ‘I Like Your Look’ and ‘Why Do I Give You The Worst of Me.’

The band described the record as their best yet and saw them go back to back to recording live in a room. Capturing the engery of what its like when five friends decide to start a band and make music together.
