Made in Manchester

Today music fans were treated too some big news from two Manchester icons. The frontman of Oasis, and the guitar player from The Stone Roses are teaming up.

.Liam Gallagher and John Squire are releasing some music together. First in the form of a single ‘Just Another Rainbow’ which fans will be able to listen to, on January 5th.

More music will come through 2024, with the promise of a ‘Mind Blowing’ album. It certainly has the potential to special. This hasn’t been a surprise for fans though. Squire was brought out on stage at Liam’s Knebworth gigs last summer, just like Oasis did all those years before.

Just after that performance Liam tweeted these famous words. “Super group incoming LG JS” leading fans to speculate what was coming next.

Liams first gig was a Stone Roses show in Manchester, and he cites the band as his first musical influence. The pair would later meet in wales of all places, when Oasis were recording ‘Definitely Maybe’ and Squire’s band The Stone Roses were working on ‘Second Coming’ remaining friends ever since.

After the Knebworth shows last year, Squire sent across three demos and the pair of them got to work on more. Citing the Sex Pistols, The Faces, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley and The Bee Gees as influences on the sessions. An interesting mix of influences to say the least.

It will quite an interesting collaboration, musically Liam has done a lot in the last few years, since going solo. Whereas Squire took a step back after the break up of The Stone Roses in 2017.

So to hear he was writing and working on music again, was alway going to perk the interest of many.

He is the sound of The Stone Roses and Liam is the sound of those great Oasis songs. It has the potential to be very special.

Let’s see what January brings!
