It’s Good to Be Back

Well…

Has everyone managed to process it yet. Its been quite the weekend to be an Oasis fan.

Friday saw Liam Gallagher take to the stage at Leeds Festival, playing another huge milestone gig on his LGDM tour. However it was Liam’s twitter antics that were the first inkling that this weekend would be different.

Fans had heard that an announcement was imminent. Something was happening on Tuesday. So they asked Liam. Its safe to say they got varied responses.

Liam took to the stage in Leeds and playing the first Oasis album on Friday night.

By Saturday though things had really started to heat up. Newspapers had been reporting that the brothers Gallagher had buried the hatchet.

First the Times, before other tabloids followed. Then the music press got hold of the news.

We've heard rumours before. But this one felt different, on Saturday it felt like a bit of a stretch but by Sunday morning. More and more details had begun to emerge.

Potential venues, talks about Wembley Stadium and Heaton Park. Promoters bidding to get the tour A Glastonbury headline slot. Suddenly things felt more real.

More and more came out throughout the day yesterday (August 25th 2024) fans speculated that Liam would announce something in his headline set at Reading. Some even believed Noel Gallagher had been seen backstage, at the festival. This all happened yesterday afternoon. Fans were running through all potential scenarios in their heads. Wondering what would happen next.

I came off social media. I was stood in a field in Manchester waiting for Blossoms and Inhaler to take to the stage. After an amazing show. The lights went down, and as fans turned to leave Wythenshawe park. We were greated with this.

It can't have been on the screen for more than 15 seconds but that's all fans needed. After seeing it, the cheer was immense. It was as if Blossoms had walked back on stage.

Reading Festival got the same announcement. Just after Liam had departed the stage. Featuring some musical backing, from The O’Jays, the song of choice being “Give the People What they Want.”

Following the gigs, social media blew up. Media publications began to report on the videos. It wouldn't take long for more news to come out of the Oasis camp though.

The video played in Reading and Wythenshawe that had been shared unofficially by those who stood in the fields. Got an official release. Through three different channels.

Both Gallagher brothers posting the same thing. Are we reading too much into it. Maybe. However I honestly believe that something big could be happening here. 15 years on from the split. 30 years since the debut album. 2025 being 30 years since ‘What’s the Story Morning Glory’ have the stars aligned. Who knows?

We will all find out tomorrow morning. Set your alarms.

Thank you for reading x
