Following on from the announcement of their winter tour. Which will see them play everywhere from Liverpool to Lincoln, Halifax to Portsmouth.
With support acts Red Rum Club and Keyside.
Blossoms today announced the Manchester leg of the tour. With 5 dates, in 5 different venues. The gigs will kick off at Manchester Academy on November 19. From there, Blossoms will take over the O2 Ritz, Albert Hall, O2 Victoria Warehouse and O2 Apollo that same week. Neon Waltz, The K's and The Lottery Winners are opening up for the band on selected dates, with two more support acts to be confirmed.
The tour is in support of the latest album by the band 'Gary' which is set for release on September 20th.
Speaking about the residency in a press release, Blossoms shared: “We wanted to do something special with the Manchester shows for this run of gigs. We played each one of these venues on our way up, so it’s great after our Wythenshawe Park show to go and do these venues and remember where everything started for us. It’s a love letter of shows to the city! We can’t wait x.”
The band also addressed the ever growing rumours about being the support for the upcoming Oasis reunion. People began to speculate the boys from Stockport following on from their huge gig in Wythenshawe Park. Where the original announcement was played to tease the reunion following on from the band departing the stage.
Tom Ogden and Joe Donovan addressed the rumours on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch.
Asked directly if they’d landed the Oasis gig, Ogden said: “No. I don’t even think they’ve sorted it out yet. There’s been no conversation or anything else. I think they’ll probably sort it out next year.”
When questioned on how they reacted to the Oasis reunion more broadly, Donovan suggested their comeback “might start something” in bringing in an influx of young musicians “picking up instruments again”.
“When your favourite band gets back together, what’s not to love about that?” added Ogden.
Its a very exciting time to be a Blossoms fan.
