Today, (October 9th 2023) Blossoms released ‘To Do List (After the Breakup)’ featuring Findlay.
It’s the first new music in over a year from the Stockport 5. The song sees the band move away from the acoustic driven sound found on their fourth studio album ‘Ribbon Around the Bomb’ instead focusing on a more 80s synth pop sound. Which the band have done before, too great affect.
It works very well here too, each member has there moment, and Findlay provides an excellent counter act to Tom’s vocals.
The song was produced by James Skelly, the band and The Coral front man have formed quite the partnership over the last few years, and he has worked his magic again with this song.
The band kicked the song off just as they’d use to in the early days, playing together in a rehearsal room. It really shows, the song has a real sense of togetherness! It also sounds very Mancunian, Tom Ogden has said that the song contains the DNA of some Manchester bands including New Order and James.
A real return to form, from Tom, Charlie, Joe, Josh and Myles. Roll on album number 5!
