‘Forever’ is the third single from Stereophonics twelfth studio album ‘Oochya’. It also happens to be one of my favourites from that record and from the band in general.
The song reminds me a lot of old Stereophonics. It wouldn’t sound out of place on every of there albums. Although released last year as a single the song was actually written in 2006. Kelly has forgotten about the song and found it again when revisiting material for what was meant to be a greatest hits album celebrating 25 years of the band.
The song talks about wanting to take away a loved ones pain, wishing that he could do something to remove whatever they may be suffering. In light of the pandemic, Kelly and the band felt as if the song could really resonate with listeners.
‘Forever’ is one of my favourite tracks from the band in recent years, it reminds me a lot of the mid 00s Stereophonics the sound that made me fall in love with the band. Yet it still sounds fresh and modern.
