Well it’s been quite a year for Beyond the Grooves and for me.

Let’s get the boring bit out of the way first, I started a new job this year. Leaving behind a load of amazing people, many of which have been huge reasons in the success of this silly little music blog. Joining an environment which has allowed me to showcase my skills, and also make some new friends which will be a part of the beyond the grooves journey in the future.

Beyond the Grooves made a huge step in 2023, the Instagram account is still going strong but is now running in parallel to the website. The website you read this post on. It was a huge step and I feel it was something that we needed to do. I set up Beyond the Grooves in September 2019, and having had a couple of years working on it. 2023 seemed like the perfect time to take the next step.

These posts being so well received and has motivated me to do more and to keep going. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. This idea was floated around to me by a couple of people, they know who they are in 2018. At the time we were probably a little worse for wear, and it could have been seen as the beer talking. I’m glad it wasn’t though. From where it started to now has been quite the journey. Thank you all for being on it with me.

2023 allowed us to have some great adventures. From Liverpool in January seeing The 1975 perform a great set, with the brilliant album ‘Being Funny in a Foreign Language’ and then all of the hits.

To Manchester where we saw Arctic Monkeys, a real bucket list moment for me. They did not disappoint, getting to see one of my generations most important bands absolutely smash it in a stadium was something I’ll never forget.

Then came Amsterdam, where we saw Blur. A truly special affair. Getting to see one of Britains best bands perform an unbelievable set, with one of the people who had this silly little idea with me in 2018 felt like a pivotal moment for us both and pivotal moment in the history of Beyond the Grooves.

There  have been so many though, seeing Blossoms in an intimate setting in Coventry, Royal Bloods victory lap and Peace’s home coming. Let’s not forget Noel Gallagher!

Plus the trip to Manchester where I took a look at some of the cities most famous musical landmarks. From the Free Trade Hall to the Hacienda. Each of them with their own story to tell.

This has been the biggest year for Beyond the Grooves by far. Thank you all for your support, without your support I don’t think I’d have kept this little silly music blog going.

It’s been a blast, here’s to 2024 where there’s more to come. Keep your eyes and ears peeled….
If I don’t speak to you before
Have an amazing Christmas and a Happy New Year
Big Big 💜
