Blur are Back!

Blur announced there ninth album 'The Ballad of Darren' yesterday (18.05.2023). It is the bands first album for 8 years, the last album being 2015's 'The Magic Whip.' 

After first announcing there comeback last year with a huge Wembley Stadium show – before going on to reveal a second date at the famous football stadium before a run of European festival and arena shows including Amsterdam (where we are seeing them) and an intimate UK warm-up tour,  which kicks off in their hometown of Colchester tonight (19.05.2023)

Speculation of the band releasing new music was floating around, but it was safe to say not many of us were expecting a new album. However that does not mean fan's are not excited. Believe me. We are.

The first single from 'The Ballad of Darren' , 'The Narcissist' was released on 18th May 2023, and its brilliant. With shades of 'Think Tank' and '13' littered throughout the song, and even some nods to the band's Britpop best. It's a brilliant piece of music, crafted by four of Britain's best musicians. A song that see's a band take stock of where they are all as both individuals and together as a band. Reflecting on where they are now.

From a fan of the band, I find it both brilliant and a bit bonkers. Me and the two guys I am seeing Blur with, never thought we would see them, let alone hear new music from them.
